Brazil breaks agrochemical registry record

Here’s a piece of news that already looks old ..

The record of agrochemicals in Brazil increased and reached the highest mark in history in the year 2018.

The data comes according to the Map (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply), which states that 450 such records were made in 2018, the highest number in 13 years.

The increase gained traction during the Temer government, which lasted from 2016 to 2018. Now with the new president in power, Jair Bolsonaro, the prediction is that the registration of pesticides in Brazil will continue to increase.

This is because several government representatives (including the president himself) have been demonstrating in favor of the unbridled intensification of agribusiness and critics of environmental policies.

In the first two months of the government, 74 pesticide products have been registered and approved, an average of 1 per day.
