Local Context

The project consists in strengthening energy for isolated systems for fuel cells in Canguçu Research Center. The project lasted from 2004 to 2007 and included partners such as CT-ENERG, CNPq, Ministry of Science and Technology, Federal University of Tocantins, Barbosa & Barbosa, besides the MME funding.

Project Description

The main objective of the project was to provide clean energy to the Canguçu Research Center, implementing on-site generation of electricity by using solar panels and storage for fuel cells. The design of the initiative is in line with the proposal of the Brazilian National Forum on Climate Change.

The components of clean energy system are: solar panels as electricity generators for electrolysis of water, a hydrogen storage system and a fuel cell power system or combustion engine adapted to hydrogen as fuel.
