A large number of Tocantins State rural communities are characterized by family agriculture. Due to the lack of access to technical information and receiving credit, many of these producers are loosing their land and its ownership is becoming more concentrated. The State action is not improving very much this situation.
OBJECTIVE
Train family Farmers about associations and cooperatives, agroecology, positive action for women and certificates of origin for products from family farmers.
The project intends to train family farmers about alternative practices which are going to help increase their productivity. The principal stages of the project are:
▪ Diagnosis;
▪ Training;
▪ Support / Evaluation.
The training was designed to be practical, offering appropriate solutions for family agriculture, at the same time, bringing theory and practice together. The participative nature of the project must guarantee that the training covers the most relevant areas, being based on education methods for adults, recognizing the different levels of education of the participants, as well as considering environmental, related and racial issues.
PROJECT RESULTS
▪ Participative diagnosis on the necessities of each settlement;
▪ Preparation and development of the training;
▪ The mounting of courses for farmers in the specific project areas ;
▪ 600 people directly benefited and 1,800 people indirectly.
